Specialist Diploma in Environment and Water Technology

TP is pleased to offer the Specialist Diploma in Environment and Water Technology. This Specialist Diploma is made up of 2 Post-Diploma Certificates (PDCs) in:

  • Water Treatment Technology
  • Air and Solid Waste Management

Each PDC is aimed at providing learners with skills in core domain areas and it can be completed in 6 months (or 1 semester), with a certificate issued upon successful completion.  A learner would be awarded a Temasek Polytechnic Specialist Diploma in Environment and Water Technology upon completion of the 2 PDCs.  This typically takes 1 year.


Course Synopsis

The course provides participants with the theoretical and practical knowledge to operate environmental and utility installations for the Environment & Water Industry and Manufacturing Industry.

Graduates of the course will be equipped with:

  • theoretical and practical knowledge/skills to operate environmental and utility installations for the Environment & Water Industry and Manufacturing Industry; and
  • knowledge in environment management and environment legislation so that they are better prepared for work in the Environment & Water industry or Manufacturing industry.


Career Opportunities

Graduates of the course will be able to take up positions in the following industries:

  • Environment and Water Industry
  • Manufacturing Industry (Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Semiconductor, Food Industry)
  • Government and Statutory Boards (such as NEA, PUB, MEWR)


Minimum Entry Requirements

  • The minimum entry requirement is a Polytechnic diploma or University Degree in Engineering or Science.
  • Holders of other equivalent academic qualifications from foreign institutions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.


Course Structure

To be awarded the Specialist Diploma in Environment and Water Technology, students are required to complete a total of 2 Post-Diploma Certificates (PDCs).

Post-Diploma Certificate in Water Treatment Technology

  • AEW0101 Industrial Utilities
  • AEW0102 Industrial Wastewater Treatment
  • AEW0103 Membrane Separation

Post-Diploma Certificate in Air and Solid Waste Management

  • AEW0201 Air Pollution Control
  • AEW0202 Solid and Hazardous Waste Management
  • AEW0203 Environmental Management System

**Singapore citizen employees of SMEs who are sponsored by their employers can enjoy a MOE enhanced funding level of 90% of cost.

^Singapore Citizen trainees can enjoy a MOE funding level of 85% of cost if this is their first MOE-subsidised Specialist Diploma Course.

^Singapore Citizen trainees can enjoy a MOE funding level of 70% of cost for subsequent Diploma course provided 5 years or more have lapsed since completion from their previous MOE- Specialist Diploma course.

^^Singapore Permanent Resident trainees can enjoy a one-time MOE funding level of 60% of cost for Specialist Diploma courses.
