This 3-year full time course, the first of its kind and only one available in Singapore, places dual emphasis on food science and nutrition. Students are given the opportunity to:
- Learn the basic principles of food from food chemistry
- Create new food products
- Manage a foodservice environment.
A wide range of hands-on skills from food preparation and microbiological testing of foods, to body composition measurements and menu planning are also taught to students. More importantly, this diploma provides comprehensive training and exposes students to real-life situations through problem-based learning, project management and participating in the Student Internship Programme.
With the increased prevalence of diet-related chronic diseases and the recognition of the importance of nutrition in the maintenance of health, this diploma would certainly equip students with basic knowledge and skills in food science and nutrition.
