The TP Hydroponic Greenhouse is specially designed to train Applied Science students in hydroponic plant production and as a location for senior students to conduct research work for Major Project.  It also serves as a training ground for students performing Student Internship Programme, secondary students under the TEAM (Temasek Polytechnic Exploration & Mentorship in Science) scheme and Applied Science students undertaking the Differential Research Programme.  It provides a unique environment for students to gain hands-on exposure in the various types of hydroponic systems used in commercial operations. The Greenhouse also caters to activities such as plant research, down stream production and testing of tissue culture plants.

The Hydroponic Greenhouse is equipped with 7 units of hydroponic orchid growth system developed by the Applied Science School, 12 panels of Nutrient Film Technique growth system, 1 unit of aeroponics and 4 units of Deep Flow Water Culture growth system.  In addition, the greenhouse houses a workroom which permits artificial light experiments, ion analysis and post harvest experimental work to be conducted. It also has a nutrient preparation room and a harvesting area.

The School has made a mark in the hydroponic orchid research in Singapore. The revolutionary hydroponic orchid growth system named "Precise Influx and Rapid Drain Orchid Growth System" that vastly increases both the quality and flowering yield of orchids in commercial production, was developed here.

The research team has successfully developed a chilling technology  to enable temperate plants to be grown in hot humid Singapore.
